Sep 19, 2016 Im in the process of making a 2x72 belt grinder. It is somewhat based on the DCKnives online plans. However, I didnt like the way the tension wheel is just mounted atop a vertical post. I figured an arm, like a Bader, would make for easier belt changes. I also saw a production grinder with a gas shock instead of a spring.
Jun 18, 2020 Shop Fox and Grizzly grinders built on a buffer motor is not a great option. I dont like the motor being in the way of the contact wheel. Its OK for slack belt and platen grinding, but I doubt that a motor that small cant keep up with grinding pressure at 3600 RPM.
